  CASABLANCA, unfortunately, suffers from the same two things that plague almost every movie released prior to the 1960s. It tends to be slow and trashy. Somehow, I actually teared up a bit within the last twenty minutes of the film. It's not often I'm as interested in a film so dated as I was here, nor is it often for ANY film to move me. The best part of CASABLANCA may have been the performances of Bogart and Bergman. The two of them are powerful enough in their roles to make for what would pass for a film of today's era, with a few necessary touches.   Casablanca is definitely brilliant filmmaking for it's time, although it does show it's age and it's slow pace makes a few scenes hard to get through, but I love this movie and everyone in it. The story is a little bit predictable, with a few twists to make you smile in the end, the cinematography is great, the acting is quite believable, and the famous quotes make the screen light right up. This is easily one of the best romance films ever made, but I do think it is over-praised and may let many people down who watch it today. I got exactly what I was expecting going in. Therefore, it is a fantastic romance film at heart, with amazing dialogue and conclusion that will have your heart-pounding. Amazing film!

  Casablanca isconsidered on of the greatest films in cinematic history, and its no secret why. The plot is a slow story where we learn more and more as we go along, and we grow to really care about the characters and we start to really fall in live with the story and how perfect every moment is. Humphry Bogart is called single greatest actor in history, and everybody knows why, because his role in this film was so monumentally amazing and is one of the greatest roles in film history. The entire cast also does monumental work and I can honestly say this was one of the best film casts I have ever seen. Casablanca is a work of art, it is so great that the entire world loves it and its greatness is known worldwide, and it honestly deserves every piece of recognition it gets.

  This is number 3 on AFI's top 100, and many actually put it at number 1. Honestly, I just didn't think it was all that great. I mean there are some great, iconic moments in this movie, but as a whole it's kind of boring. The romance is terrific, even though I think they needed more scenes together. The film works best when Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman are with one another. When they are apart, the movie kind of drags and comes to a stand still. I'll give the movie this, their on screen romance is one of the best love stories ever(even if it is slow). Made in 1943, it has aged nicely, but I imagine it was still boring for a movie back then as well. The movie has some of the best quotes ever in film, but between the fantastic lines are endless amounts of meaningless dialogue. If you put this movie in your top 10 of all time, good for you, but we have very different tastes. Good for a one time watch, just to say you've seen "Casablanca", but I doubt I'll return for another visit anytime soon.

But even behind the classic plot is an incredible screenplay, featuring such humorous banter between the characters at times that the film could almost be classified as a comedy. If you haven't seen "Casablanca," do yourself a favor and find a copy at once.

  I finally got around to seeing this cinematic classic. Casablanca is of film's greatest epics, and its no secret why. I did love the film and I think its one of the best romance films to be put on celluloid. The power of Casablanca is unmatched by any film in history. The story is actually fairly simple, but the characters are so well developed and the dialogue is so well written that it's a solid picture. Even if one doesn't like Casablanca, they cannot dismiss it as a piece of trash. The performances in this film are phenomenal and of course the film is filled with some of the most memorable dialogue in film. Beautifully filmed in black & white as was the standard of the time, Casablanca is one of the definitive classic films that remains one of the greatest stories ever told on film. Everything about the picture is beautiful. Masterpiece applies to Casablanca, the word has been constantly misused by today's audiences to describe trash, but Casablanca is a true masterpiece of cinema, a film that has remained a classic for decades, and will remain a definitive, masterful classic for many years to come. The film is the true definition of a real masterpiece. This is a film thats still refreshing to watch today as it was when first released. Even if people dislike the film, the untarnished legacy of Casablanca speaks for itself.

  I couldn't care much for the romance, but i guess that's me being wrong and not the movie doing it wrong. Too idealistic for me, everything else is well done, but i prefer to see Bogart in different stuff.

  I very much enjoyed this even though it was a rented movie and some of the spots in the movie froze it was a good movie. Bogart and Bergman are fantastic! :)

  "Leave him alone, Miss Ilsa. You're bad luck to him." There's not much I can say about Casablanca that hasn't already been said countless times in the sixty-eight years since it was released. The story about a chance meeting of former lovers in French Morocco during World War II is as classic as any movie can possibly be. It's endlessly quoted and nearly universally beloved, and my opinion after seeing it doesn't differ from popular opinion. This is a fantastic movie. If not for Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman would be my favorite classic actress of all time. Stunningly beautiful and as talented of an actress as there ever was, she's the heart of this movie to me, even more than the central character, played by Humphery Bogart. Casablanca is my introduction to him, and he gives an expert performance of a brooding, bitter man with a past that's covered his true soul with cynicism. His character was layered and complex, and he delivered the amazing dialogue expertly. Paul Henreid and Claude Rains were also excellent in their roles, with special mention going to Dooley Wilson, who has probably the best role of any black actor that I've seen from that film era. You see old movie trailers describing their respective films with bold proclamations of "Danger!", "Intrigue!", "Mystery!", and "Romance!", and those all are perfect descriptors of Casablanca. It just feels like a film that was made to endure across the ages. The music is brilliant, I've already mentioned the acting, the characters are memorable, and the story hooks you with mystery and delivers an ending that couldn't be more perfect. Seeing Casablanca should be mandatory for every movie fan, it deserves all the critical and fan acclaim and every award it's ever gotten, and more.

  I haven't seen this for a long time, and I'll admit that I saw it before iwas really into giM (and I did doze once or twice but this basically lives up to it's reputation.I know that not everyone does, can, or will agree with me, but, even if I just seem to be following the crowd, this is still a fantastic film. It intrigues me that it was released during WWII, and is relevant to the period ir takes place in/was released during, because I have this belief that all films like that just are fascinating (modern examples include Three KIngs (to an extent), The Hurt Locker, Flight 93, etc. I really don't have much else to say that hasn't already been said (and much better), so I guess just leave it at that. You ight probably know if this may be a film for you, especially if you do much reading baout it, or have any interest in anything related to the film, the time period, director, or cast.

I don't know if this is the original give-up-the-girl-for-the-sake-of-the-resistance story, but it's certainly got the most class. My favorite scene is the one in which the Germans are carousing to their anthem, and Victor strides up to the band and tells them to play "La Marseillaise." The band leader looks over at Rick, and he nods, almost immediately. Vive la France!

  I wouldn't exactly say that i'm the biggest fan of this movie, but there's no denying its utter brilliance. It's just flat out cool and still manages to be after nearly 7 decades. A great cast, great direction and great writing. It's sort of like a Gone With the Wind Scenario, everyone knows it's good and a classic. However, this manages to really showcase the all of hollywood's qualities in one fail swoop. You have action, romance, drama and mystery.
